  1. Newsie Is Here!
  2. Just released as 'freeware',
  3. Newsie is a utility that converts
  4. text such as this to a RipScript
  5. graphic 'newspaper' that can be
  6. displayed from most BBS systems.

  8. For example, Newsie can be
  9. displayed by a RemoteAccess or
  10. ProBoard BBS as WELCOME.RIP. Just
  11. rename the output file Newsie.RIP
  12. to WELCOME.RIP.

  14. Newsie can be displayed as a
  15. Wildcat! BBS bulletin menu.
  16. Newsie draws a text window just
  17. below the newspaper graphic. This
  18. is where Wildcat! will write the
  19. bulletin menu prompt.

  21. The newspaper (banner) name,
  22. editor in chief, and other
  23. settings can be customized. See
  24. NEWSIE.DOC for complete details.

  26. Mouse Support
  27. You can tell Newsie to create a
  28. mouse region.  When this is done,
  29. the entire newspaper graphic is
  30. 'click-able' by callers.  When it
  31. is clicked, all RIP windows are
  32. reset.  You can even tell Newsie
  33. what to send when the newspaper
  34. is clicked.

  37. Best of all, Newsie is FREE! If
  38. that's not enough, commented
  39. program source code is included
  40. and has been contributed to the
  41. public domain.  Feel free to
  42. enhance the software or customize
  43. it to fit your needs.  You're
  44. encouraged to redistribute your
  45. commented enhancements to share
  46. with others and to help others
  47. learn more about creating
  48. software.

  51. I know that Newsie isn't that
  52. sophisticated and it lacks a
  53. spectacular interface, but it is
  54. functional and outputs a graphic
  55. of a newspaper that looks pretty
  56. slick.  I hope you can use it.
